3 years in the making, this DVD has 11 chapters including rides from the 40’s to when the park closed in 1989. We have received 8mmm, super 8mm, 16 mm VHS , pictures, negatives, slides in black and white and color and many other formats and have edited down to 1 hour and 34 minutes. Other chapters include, The Canadiana, Building the Comet and some rare 40’s color footage of the famous Cyclone Roller Coaster. Some of the footage was pretty old and iffy, but if rare we included it! One chapter is Rare and vintage pictures and I learned that a board walk ran from the park, down along the beach to Bay Beach where there was miniature golf!! …and they way they dressed in the 40’s… Sundays best to go on all the rides! If you are a Crystal Beach Park Fan, you love to see rides that have been gone a long time including the Caterpillar, Hey Dey, Cyclone, Wild Mouse etc. Another chapter is the Big Band Era and has an interview with Lionel Hampton.
The end is a professional 10 minute video shot about 1980 the Park did, to send to Commercial establishments to try and get them to have an employee’s picnic there. It’s a great promotional tape and they say on it, they’ll be there for another hundred years! Well unfortunately not, but we have it for you to relive all those great memories.
